Eight Member MCI team visit SVIMS
Tirupati, June 21(UNI) A eight-member team from the Medical Council of India (MIC) visited the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Science(SVIMS) run by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which is under cnsideratin for upgradation to the status of a National Institute on the lines of All India Medical Science(AIMS).
SVIMS sources said here today that the team, headed by D Badrinath and Balachandran of Jipmer, Pondicherry, visited the SVIMS to evaluate its application for Rs 60 crore, being sought, to upgrade the institution on par with AIMS.
The team has to evaluate whether the institute conformed with the guideline, like the fee charged for the service and the funds utilised for improving the medical facilities in the hospital to the poor and needy.
The team had interacted with the heads of every department and studied their proposals.
The team will also interact with employees and consider other factors before submitting their report to the Central Government, the sources added.
