EC should judge complaints under Office of Profit Bill

New Delhi, Jun 21: The BJP today urged the Election Commission to take up for adjudication all the pending complaints seeking disqualification of MPs and MLAs for violation of Office of Profit Bill.

BJP Spokesman Prakash Javadekar said that the BJP wants the EC to act against all violations uniformly as the Bill passed by Parliament condoning all past violations had been returned to the Parliament by President A P J Abdul Kalam for reconsideration. The Parliament (Disqualification) Act was very much under force and the E C should take up and decide all complaints, he said.

Asked if the BJP MPs and MLAs would not be affected, the BJP Spokesman said the affected MPs would face the inquiry and submit their replies. Others should also follow suit, he said.

'' But it is necessary that the E C should initiate the process at the earliest,'' he added.
