Death of tribal creates tension in AP mandal

Visakhapatnam, June 21 (UNI) Tension prevailed in V Madugula mandal in the district following the alleged custodial death of a 48-year-old tribal last night.

According to information received here today, G Appa Rao was caught by a raid party of the prohibition and excise department squad on the charge of selling illicit liquor.

A native of Konam village in Chidikada manadal in the district, Rao, was later shifted to the excise station at V Madugula.

The excise station sentry found him dead in front of the station this morning and informed the senior officials.

On hearing the incident, several villagers rushed to the excise station and staged a dharna.

However, the excise officials denied custodial torture as the cause of the death.
