CPI(M) activist tortured to death in Kashmir
Srinagar, June 21 : A CPI (M) activist was tortured to death by militants in south Kashmir, official sources said today.
They said Arshid Ahmad Lone, was abducted by militants from his house at Hawora in Kulgam tehsil in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on June 6.
However, he was freed after being tortured by his captors.
The sources said a group of militants killed Lone in his house last night.
Meanwhile, state secretary of the CPI(M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed deep shock over the killing of Lone by militants.
In a statement here today, Mr Tarigami said those involved in such bloody games should read the writings on wall which unreservedly goes against the terror.
Killing of innocent people simply on the basis of their political affiliations is against the mankind and Human Rights standards.
These acts are not be justified and defensible, Mr Tarigami added.
Mr Tarigami expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and urged upon the government to provide immediate ex-gratia relief to the family of the deceased.
