Change of rules affect Indian players
Bhopal, June 21 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Olympic Association (MPOA) today said Indian sportsperson are lagging behind in various disciplines, including wrestling, 'kabaddi' and hockey, due to change of rules effected in the games by developed countries.
Newly appointed MPOA Chairman and former minister Mahesh Joshi told reporters here today that the European countries had changed the rules as per their convenience.
Recently, a decision was taken to conduct 'kabaddi' on mattresses. As the game is played on normal ground, Indian players would be affected by the decision.
Indian sportsperson had also borne the burnt of playing hockey on turf and wrestling on mattresses.
Expressing commitment to promote sports in the state, Mr Joshi said playgrounds and stadium would not be used for purposes other than sport activities.
He said the MPOA had been entrusted with the responsibility to maintain the playgrounds.
Mr Joshi said the Association would organise sport competitions in a bid to promote sports. MP Olympic Sports was organised in this regard recently.
