CET for autonomous engg college on July 15, 16
Chennai, June 21 (UNI) The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses in self financing Engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, under Management quota, would be held on July 15 and 16.
The Consortium of Self Financing Professional Arts and Science Colleges in Tamil Nadu has been granted permission by the Permanent Committee for the conduct of CET, consortium chairman Jeppiar told newspersons here today.
Giving details of the CET schedule, he said the test would be conducted in 184 centres in the state, Kottayam in Kerala and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and the results would be announced on July 24.
Students could get the applications from the centres and also download them from the Consortium website, he said, adding July four would be the last date for receipt of applications.
The admission process would begin soon after Anna University makes an announcement to this effect, he asid. The consortium, comprising 171 self financing colleges, would follow the government's reservation policy.
However, the number of seats to be surrendered by the colleges to the government would be decided after Friday when the Madras High court is expected to give its verdict on the issue, he said.
On the minimum marks fixed by the government for admission, Mr Jeppiar said the consortium has given a representation to the government to make ''just pass'' in plus two examinations as the eligibility for admission to professional courses on the lines of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
He said for admission to MCA and MBA in self financing colleges under management quota, the CET would be held on July 17 and the results would declared on July 26.
