N Sitaram is 'Distinguished Scientist in DRDO'
Bangalore, June 21 : Bangalore-based Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Director N Sitaram has been conferred the 'Distinguished Scientist in DRDO' award in recognition of his contribution over the years.
Dr W Selvamurthy, Chief Controller Research and Development (Life Science and HR), New Delhi, and Mr Avinash Chander, Director Advanced System Laboratory (ASL), Hyderabad, have earlier bagged the award, instituted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), for their contribution in their respective fields, according to an official release here today.
CAIR, a premier lab of the DRDO, is engaged in conducting basic research in the field of artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, applied research and development in these fields with a focus on defence requirements, including computer networking and communications.
CAIR, which won the DRDO's 'Silicon Trophy' last year, had developed a unique tactical command and control system called Artillery combat command and control system, induction of which into the services was expected to improve the accuracy of artillery fire.
