BJP decides to rap government on price rise
New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) In order to pin the UPA government on the price rise issue, the BJP today set up a three-member committee to finalise stretegy to intensify its stir against the government's failure to check the rising prices of essential commodities and vegetables.
The decision was taken at the BJP's General secretaries meeting chaired by President Rajnath Singh and also attended by Vice- Presidents Venkaiah Naidu and Bal Apte this evening.
The committee includes Mr Naidu, general secretaries Anant Kumar and Arun Jaitley had been asked to finalise its report at the earliest.
Later, talking to newspersons, Mr Jaitley said the decision to intensify the stir was taken after the meeting reviewed the party's 15-day's long Anti-Price Rise demonstrations all over the country.
The meeting noted the government had miserably failed to control the spiralling effect of rise in prices of petroleum products and essential commodities, badly hitting the common man.
Besides, the party also decided to remind the people of the black days of emergency by organising anti-emergency meetings in some mains centres either on July 25 or 26.
While Mr Advani would address the public meeting in Delhi, Mr Singh in (Dehradun), Mr Naidu Banglore, Mr Jaitley and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at Jalandhar and Ludhiana.
Mr Jaitley said the meeting discussed the party's future programmes and organisational matters. It was also decided to hold a three-day camp of party MPs at Bhopal from July 14.
Prior to it, the party Central Office-bearers would meet in Delhi on July 12 to finalise the agenda for the camp.
