Army Assistance to NCC for Best Training Facilities
New Delhi, June 21 (UNI) Army Vice Chief Lieutenant General S Pattabhiraman today assured ''all possible assistance'' to the National Cadet Corps in providing best of training facilities to the cadets.
The Army Vice Chief -- who visited the Headquarters of the NCC Directorate General here -- also lauded ''the good work'' being done by NCC in grooming the youth of the country into future leaders.
Lt Gen Pattabhiraman -- overall incharge of training in the Army -- was briefed by NCC Director General Lt Gen MC Bhandari about the multifarious activities -- including the recent introduction of Hot Air Ballooning and White Water Rafting as adventure activities -- conducted by NCC for the cadets.
Lt Gen Bhandari informed that NCC would shortly have a total of 17 state directorates with the raising of one more NCC directorate in Dehradun.
NCC was also to enter into a joint venture with the Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Agriculture for development of wasteland in the Himalayan region for which a Memorandum of Understanding was to be signed shortly.
The organisation was also to sign an MoU with the UN Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) and the Social Justice Ministry on June 23 for creating awareness about drugs and crime amongst the youth, Lt Gen Bhandari said.
