AOL launches Gujarati SMS software, to luanch Kannada SMS soon

Ahmedabad, June 21 (UNI) Global telecom major Tejic, wireless division of American On-Line (AOL), today launched 'T9' software to send short message system (SMS) in Gujarati.

Announcing the launch here, AOL (wireless division) senior country manager (India) Mridul Srivastava said the launch would be useful to five crore Gujarati-speaking population in the country with 70 per cent literacy.

The company proposes to launch T9 software in Kannada soon, as it has already launched the software in other languages too like Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Tamil, Bangla and Urdu.

Globally, Tegic T9 software is available in 55 languages, with over 800 mobile phone models available in the right compatibility.

With a mobile penetration of over 100 million users in India, with three million joining every month, AOL's wirless division expects to serve different vernacular groups better.

Seattle-based company has offices in New Delhi, besides London, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Beijing and Sao Paulo.
