Angola draw with Iran as both make Cup exit
LEIPZIG, June 21: Angola and Iran drew 1-1 but both bowed out of the World Cup after finishing behind Portugal and Mexico in group D.
Angola, who went into the game nursing hopes of a victory which would have given them at least a theoretical chance of supplanting the Mexicans, took the lead on the hour through substitute Flavio.
It was their first goal at their first World Cup finals but their lead did not hold for long. Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh equalised for Iran just 15 minutes later.
Angola, who drew their second group game 0-0 with Mexico, finished third in the group on two points with Iran last on one.
