Age limit for govt service raised by two years in Bihar
Patna, June 21 (UNI) Extending major relief to job-seekers, state government raised the age limit for government service by two years for all categories.
The new age limit would be effective till 2010.
State cabinet secretary A K Chauhan said here today that the cabinet had given its nod for increase in upper age limit for candidates belonging to all categories.
Upper age limit for general category candidates has been raised from 35 to 37 years.
For backward and extremely backward classes it had been increased from 38 to 40.
Age bar for scheduled castes and scheduled tribe candidates had been raised from 40 to 42 years, he added.
State government had not disheartened the female candidates as '' women in unreserved category can now try their luck till the age of forty years ''.
The proposal for increasing the age limit in government services was pending for quite some time, Mr.Chauhan said.
The state government had also enhanced the retirement age from 58 to 60 years as such it became imperative to modify the recruitment age accordingly, he maintained.
