About dozen people injured in clash in Haryana village

Kaithal, June 21 (UNI) About a dozen persons were injured in a clash between two groups and police firing in Badsikri village under the Kalayat sub-division of the district today.

Police reports here said that the policemen resorted to firing when the clashing groups began pelting stones at each other and the police party. A few policemen were amongst those who sustained injuries.

Five of the injured were admitted to the civil hospital here, of which three, who were serious, were refered to PGI, Chandigarh.

According to offical reports, the clash took place when residents of Badsikri and other villages went to take possession of a piece of agricultural land from the other group, which was tilling this land.

The residents of Badsikri claimed that the land in contention belonged to a 'dera' and the village panchayat had recently passed a resolution asking those who were tilling the land to hand it over to the 'dera'.

Senior civil and police officals have rushed to the spot. Further details are still awaited.
