11 tippers seized, 1190 fined for violating traffic rules in Kashmir
Srinagar, June 21 (UNI) Following high court orders, the traffic police in Kashmir have intensified the drive against the traffic rule violators and seized 11 tippers and challaned 1190 vehicles for committing various traffic offences.
Superintendent of traffic police Abdul Hamid Bhat said the drive against the violators of traffic rule will continue in the Kashmir valley, particuarly in the city and other major towns.
He said traffic police seized 11 tippers for violating time schedule fixed for their entry in Srinagar Municipal limits.
The entry of tippers and heavy load carriers in Srinagar Municipal limits has been restricted by the court to avoid accidents, traffic congestion and pollution in the city.
He said that entry of tippers and heavy load carriers has been restricted in Srinagar city from 0700 hours to 2100 hours and have been allowed to ply throughout the night.
He said during surprise check the Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police, Mehraj-ud-Din seized 11 tippers at Peerbagh area for entering Srinagar Municipal limits during restricted period.
He is said to give practical shape to court orders Traffic police has intensified the drive against the traffic rule violators and challaned 1190 vehicles for committing various traffic offences.
A fine of over Rs 1.31 lakh has been realized from the defaulters during the month of June 2006 till date.
He said during this period 475 vehicles have been challaned for dangerous and over speeding, 36 drivers booked for driving without licenses, 248 for wrong parking, 257 without helmet, 22 without PUCC besides 99 vehicle seized against no-entry.
