Warn Chhattisgarh govt to check Naxalism: Cong asks Centre
New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) The Congress today demanded that the Centre issue a stern warning to the BJP government in Chhattisgarh to check Naxalite violence or face serious consequences.
Condeming the killing of seven villagers by Naxals in Chikalguda village in Chhattisgarh's Dantewara district, Congress Treasurer Moti Lal Vora said the state government was merely carrying out an campaign against such violence, instead of cracking down on anti-social elements.
The state government had failed to utilise the paramilitary forces and other central assistance to combat Naxalite violence.
Mr Vora said he would soon meet Home Minister Shivraj Patil and urge him to direct the state government to take immediate action against Naxals.
