Two elected to Assembly for French Citizens

Pondicherry, June 20 (UNI) Mr Thomas Hugh and Mr Sankar Vajoumouny were elected as the representatives of the Assembly for French Citizens Residing Abroad.

The results of the elections held on June 18 was officialy declared here this morning.

Of the 5,210 French citizens residing in Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, eligible to exercise their franchise to elect the two representatives, 2,669 cast their votes of which 2,637 votes were found valid.

Mr Hugh and Mr Vajoumouny who contested the elections as a team polled 939 and 931 votes respectively and declared elected for a six-year term.
