Shut down in Pampore against killing of HM militant
Srinagar, Jun 20 (UNI) A general strike was today observed in Pampore town, 12 km from here on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in protest against the killing of a militant by security forces last evening.
Shops and business establishments are closed and work in government offices and other commerical establishments was affected.
However, traffic on the highway and other routes from Pampore was almost normal.
People also took to streets in protest against the killing of Javid Ahmad Mir in a fake encounter.
The demonstrators alleged that Mir was arrested from Dalgate area of the city and later killed at Pampore.
However, officials said Mir, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed by security forces in an encounter.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League condemned the killing of Mir.
A spokesman of the League said that Human Rights violations by security forces has increased after the round table conference.
