Sensex edges low on global weakness, down by 175 pts

Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) In volatile trading, sensex today lost 175 points to close on four day low of 9822.52 as the weakness on global bourses continued.

Sensex touched the low of 9745 points on subdued trading for the day, showing a swing of 575 points.

S&P CNX Nifty too lost 55.60 points or 1.9 per cent at 2,861.30.

Major scrips on the sensex plunged, the only gainers were Hero Honda up by 0.54 per cent, Ranbaxy up by 0.84 per cent, Reliance Communications up by 3.63 per cent and Reliance Energy up by 0.38 per cent.

All other scrips lost between 0.5 to 6 per cent.

L&T plunged 6 per cent to Rs 1,929.50, Metal shares were volatile. Hindalco lost 2 per cent to Rs 157.05, Nalco ended flat at Rs 219. Cement shares too declined as ACC lost 1.5 per cent to Rs 754, Grasim lost 1.3 per cent to Rs 1,790. UltraTech Cement lost 1 per cent to Rs 676.60, SBI lost 3.6 per cent to Rs 725.50.
