Rymbai allocates portfolios
Shillong, June 20 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister J D Rymbai has allocated portfolios among the newly sworn-in Cabinet Ministers.
Allocating the portfolios late last night, Mr Rymbai himself retained Personnel, Political, Cabinet Affairs, Planning, Programme Implementation, Industries Taxation and the departments not allocated to any other ministers.
Deputy Chief Minister and president of the United Democratic Party Donkupar Roy retained his portfolios, including Finance, Power, Revenue, Election, Higher and Technical Education, Border Areas Development and Law.
Martle N Mukhim, president of the Meghalaya Democratic Party, also retained his Social Welfare portfolio along with the newly allocated Forest and Enviornment, Soil and Water Conservation, Administrative Reforms and Secretariat Administration department.
Among the senior Congress ministers, who took the oath of office and secrecy last night, were Mr Robert Garnett Lyngdoh, Home (Police) and Tourism, former Speaker Mr Elstone D Marak, Health and Family Welfare and Information and Public Relation, Mr Prestone Tynsong, Public Health Engineering, Ms Trene Nongrum, Community and Rural Development, Mr Brenning A Sanom, Public Work Department (Roads), Mr Shitlang Pale, Public Work Department (Building), Mr Manirul Islam Sarkar, Transport and Agriculture and Mr Sengram Santgma, Fisheries and Home (Jails).
Mr Paul Lyngdoh, president of the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening movement, has been allocated Urban Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs, Science and Technology and Home (Passport).
