Punjab BJP organisational polls as per schedule: Kohli

Phagwara, June 20 (UNI) BJP's Returning Officer of the organisational elections in the country, O P Kohli today categorically stated that the party elections in Punjab would be held as per the notified schedule and not after the assembly polls in the state, which are due to be held in February next year.

''There is no question of postponing the organisational elections in Punjab due to the assembly polls,'' Mr Kohli said while talking to UNI of telephone from New Delhi. He made this comment when his attention was drawn to the reported statement of his party's national secretary Harjit Singh Grewal, who had stated that the organisational polls in Punjab would be held after the assembly polls.

Mr Kohli said that the organisational election process had already commenced with the membership drive which would be completed in this month. The elections of national president of BJP would be held by November and state chiefs would be elected by October 31 positively, he added.
