New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) The mystery shrouding the death of a 19-year-old Delhi University student in Janakpuri area of West Delhi on June 17 was today cleared after post mortem reports and circumstantial evidence indicated a suicide.

The evidence gathered and the post mortem report point towards suicide, said DCP (West) Robin Hibu.

''Rape has been totally ruled out in the case as reports have said that the girl's hymen was intact and the death was due to fall from a height (anti-mortem). She also hit a tree while falling because of which scratch marks were there on the body.'' Two witnesses also said the girl was standing alone on the top of the building and then jumped from there.

Besides, the two SMSs sent by the girl (to her supposed boyfriend) indicated her distress level and pain which forced her to take the extreme step. ''Each had a heartbreaking message with a 'goodbye' ending.'' While one talked of ''will not see you ever again'', the other too had ''goodbye forever'' among other things, he added.

The post mortem report was received by the police this evening after which it disclosed its contents, pointing to a suicide by the Delhi University student and not rape.

The father of the deceased, Chaman Lal Kakkar, had alleged that he feared it was not a suicide, as was being told by the police, but something more, even rape, as the body bore scratch marks.

A first year student of Sociology from Jesus and Mary College of Delhi University, Neha Kakkar had fallen from the 6th floor of 'Kirti Shikhar' building at Janakpuri District Centre on June 17 evening.

Resident of Janakpuri's 'A' Block, Neha had left home, saying that she was going shopping.

A budding singer, Neha who was a Civil Services aspirant, had also participated in the famous 'Indian Idol'contest.
