Poland and Costa Rica level 1-1 at halftime

HANOVER, June 20 (Reuters) Poland and Costa Rica were level at 1-1 at halftime in a Group A match today between two teams looking for their first World Cup points after two defeats.

Defender Bartosz Bosacki scored Poland's first goal at the World Cup finals with a right-foot volley that went in off the bar in the 33rd minute.

Ronald Gomez had put Costa Rica in front eight minutes earlier, drilling a free kick from 20 metres out through a hole in Poland's wall and between the legs of goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

Both teams were already eliminated from the competition after defeats by Ecuador and Germany who were playing in Berlin at the same time.
