Poet Suradha dead

Chennai, Jun 20 (UNI) Popular Poet and film lyricist Suradha died here this morning after prolonged illness.

He was 83.

His original name was Subbu Rathinadasan. Mr Suradha was an ardent fan of renowned poet Bharatidasan.

Suffering from ailment for the last few weeks, he was admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical College Hospital last week after his condition worsened and was put on ventilator support.

He had penned songs for various films.

Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who had recently sanctioned an assistance of Rs 50,000 for his medical treatment, condoled the death.

Mr Karunanidhi visited Mr Suradha's house and paid homage by placing a wreath on the body.
