Orient Craft to invest in garment manufacturing in Punjab
Chandigarh, June 20 (UNI) Orient Craft Fashion Technology Ltd will invest over Rs 45 crore in the next four years to start a hi-tech computer-aided garment manufacturing facility and a BPO call centre at Mohali.
The first phase of this facility was today inaugurated by Punjab Finance Minister Surinder Singla.
The plant will provide direct employment to 2,500 and an equal number would be benefitted indirectly. This venture will promote traditional embroidered skills and handwork of rural Punjab and market these products to Orient Craft's European and American customers.
As per shared plan with Punjab Info Tech, its Joint Venture partner, Orient Craft plans to set up a BPO call centre, textile design and training centre and customer support services for fashion industry at the Mohali plant.
Mr Sudhir Dhingra, Chairman and Managing Director, Orient Craft Ltd said the company will play the role of a catalyst in making Punjab a major manufacturing hub for garments. With Orient Craft setting up manufacturing facility here, other leading garment manufactrers and exporters will be inspired to set up their units here, he added.
