NIO scientist gets Biotechnology Overseas Associate Award
Panaji, June 20 (UNI) Dr C Mohandass, scientist of the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) here has received Biotechnology Overseas Associate Award instituted by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, for the year 2005-06.
This award allows Dr Mohandass to work for six months at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (IPST) at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta in the US.
He would be associated with a scientist at the International Academy of Wood Science Fellow at IPST, Dr Arthur Ragauskas, to work on modern biotechnological aspects of biological deinking during his fellowship.
This is in continuation of the work he had already been involved with the NIO under a marine biotechnology project. Significantly, he has 12 research publications in the most prestigious journals and two international patents, according to the NIO sources.
