NC welcomes Poonch-Rawlakote bus service

Srinagar, June 20 (UNI) The Natioinal Conference (NC) has welcomed the bus service between Poonch and Rawlakote in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

NC general secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Abdul Rashid Shaheen, MP, and Dr Mehboob Baigh in a statement here today said the bus service will help families, divided during partition, to meet each other.

However, they demanded reopening of other routes which were functional before 1947.

The NC leaders said travel regulatins should be made simple so that more and more people can utilise the bus service.

Mr Shaheen said it was a historical decision which will help to strengthen relations between India and Pakistan.

The road was opened today and the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Defence Minister Pranab Mukkherjee, Union Water Resouces Minister Saifuddin Soz, Jammu and Kahmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed fallged off the first bus from Poonch.
