Naxals kill 7 villagers in Chhattisgarh
Jagdalpur, June 20 (UNI) Seven villagers were beaten to death by 'lathis' while two sustained severe gunshot wounds after naxals swarmed Chikalguda village in Chhattisgarh's Dantewara district, police said.
All the victims were associated with the anti-rebel campaign 'Salwa Judum'.
About 250 naxals targeted Chikalguda last night. The village is two km from Konta Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Mausambuchha, Mausamsamaiyya, Suryarama, Turlamlachha, Bodiyamkanna, Vurramappa and Sorikanna.
Kunjamsitaram was shot in the shoulder when he attempted to intervene. The other injured was identified as Mausamrana and both were admitted to a hospital at Bhadrachalam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
The police have reached Chikalguda.
