New Delhi, Jun 20 (UNI) The Nehru Planetarium and the Amateur Astronomers Association have arranged observations and public presentations here tomorrow on summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern hemisphere.

According to an official release, the special events would be organised at Jantar Mantar and at Nehru Planetarium.

In Delhi, the sun would be seen rising tomorrow at 0524 hrs and setting at 1922 hrs -- as compared to 0710 hrs and 1729 hrs on winter solstice on December 22.

On the day of summer solstice, the sunrays are perpendicular on the Tropic of Cancer. In India there will be no shadow of any object under the sun in towns close to the Tropic of Cancer such as Ujjain, Ranchi, Durgapur and Bardwan at solar noontime.

Since Delhi is about 5 degrees to the North of the Tropic of Cancer, the sun will be at 84.8 degree in the capital at 1223 hrs, it added.
