Heavy rains, squall, lash Delhi

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) Heavy showers accompanied by A squall, lashed the national capital tonight, the second time in the last one week.

The rains, which hit the capital at around 2100 hrs, lowered the mercury by several degrees Celsius, providing relief from the heat.

A heavy squall, measuring about 50 Km per hour, began blowing in the evening. This, coupled with a heavily overcast sky, resulted in the rainfall.

The rainfall, which began as a drizzle, soon turned into heavy showers.

Weathermen attributed the squall to a fresh wave of North easterlies which began blowing towards Delhi towards the evening.

The high humidity level of nearly 40 per cent also led to a build up of heavy clouds, they said.

The weathermen have forecast more thundershowers and rain for tomorrow with the maximum temperature likely to drop to 36 degree celsius, from 38 Degree celsius today.
