New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) Thick clouds today enveloped the Delhi skyline for the second continuous day, indicating possibility of another spell of rainfall in the capital, after last night's heavy showers.

The heavily overcast sky, together with a high level of humidity, brought about a drop in mercury to 37.1 Degree Celsius, about two degrees below normal.

Light rains were also witnessed in the evening though weathermen said they were only traces (less than 0.1 mm).

It is the second day in succession that the capital has witnessed a heavily overcast sky. Thick clouds, accompanied by a heavy squall, had late last evening resulted in heavy showers. About 13 mm of rainfall was recorded in Delhi last night, weathermen said.

The weather office has, however, refuted the possibility of the fresh spell of rains being pre-monsoon showers.

Rather, they attribute the turnaround in the weather since early this week, particularly since last evening, to localised weather phenomenon like a fresh upper air cyclonic movement.

The cyclonic movement, together with the high levels of humidity, resulted in the build up of clouds, the met office said.

Also contributing to a coolness in the weather were North Westerlies which began flowing through the air last evening.

The weathermen expect the weather to reman cool for another day or two, with the possibility of more rains tonight or tomorrow.

They have forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rains and thundershowers, accompanied by squall, in the capital during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperature tomorrow is expected to be 38 degree C, they said.
