HC judgement on polls unfortunate: CPI

Hyderabad, Jun 20 (UNI) The Commmunist party of India(CPI) today described the Andhra Pradesh High Court judgement squashing the Notification for the Local Body elections as ''unfortunate''.

State Srecretary of the CPI K Narayana in a statement said the High court had found fault with preparation of voters list and squashed the elections.

He said there were discrepancies in the voters list and the party had already brought to the notice of the State Election Commission and to the officials concerned. The party had also organised agitational programmes in Kurnool and Adilabad districts in this matter, he added.

Dr Narayana said the State Government had failed to rectify the discrepancies in the voters list.

He urged the Government to rectifiy the faults in the voters list and try to conduct the elections to the Local Bodies soon.
