Four new meet records created on penultimate day

Bangalore, June 20 (UNI) Four new meet records were created on the penultimate day of the 23rd Sub-Junior National Aquatics Championship, being held at Jain International Residential School Pool at Kanakapura on the outskirts of the city, today.

While two records were created in the boys section in 50 M Breast Stroke and 4x50 M Medley Relay, the other two were shattered by girls in 100 M Butterfly and 4x50 M Medley Relay.

In the boy's section, Umesh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh finished a distance of 50 M in 35.02 sec, erasing the old meet record of 37.03 sec that stood in the name of Santosh Thokohom of Manipur. The second record of the day was created by West Bengal in 4x50 M Medley Relay with a timing of 2:13.74 sec as against the old record timing of 2:15.13 sec by SSCB.

In the girls section, 12-year-old Arhatha Magavi of hosts Karnataka added one more gold to her kitty, besides creating a new meet record in 100 M Butterfly by covering the distance in 1:11.00 sec. The old record with a timing of 1:12.51 sec was held by Parita Parekh of Gujarat.

Maharashtra lass bettered their own record in Medley Relay by finishing 4x50 M in 2:23.12 sec as against their earlier best timing of 2:23:40 sec.
