Food grains worth Rs 2.8 crore destroyed in fire
Yavatmal, June 19 (UNI) A godown of the Adivasi Vikas Mahamandal, which is situated about 4 kms away from Pandharkawda town of Yavatmal district, was gutted in a major fire yesterday and foodgrains worth Rs2.8 crores destroyed. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, tribal development board sources said.
Food grains were kept in the godown by the Board for distributing to the Ashram Schools and Tribal hostels in Yavatmal and Akola districts.
The entire stock of food grains and other essential goods were proposed to be distributed to the 42 Ashram Schools and 8 tribal hostels from today and the fire occurred a few hours prior to the beginning of the distribution.
