New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) EMC Corporation, a global information technology company today announced doubling it's investment in India from 250 millon dollars to over 500 million dollars by 2010 and said it would set up centre of excellence for e-governance.

''India is core to our R&D and is one of the fastest growing development centres,'' said EMC corporation Chairman, President and CEO Joe Tucci while making this announcement here.

Mr Tucci who is on his maiden visit to India said his company with a revenue increase from 850 million dollars to 1.2 billion dollars between 2004 and 2006 has chalked out this doubling of investment plan for India as a direct result of the success it had, in helping hundreds of organisations with their information management needs and the tremendous opportunity viewed by the company.

Mr Tucci added that most of the investment would be utilised to strengthen R&D presence in the country and the rest of it to develop the market, and expand sales and marketing infrastructure.

EMC President for India and SAARC countries, Manoj Chugh said that the Centre of Excellence for e-Governance (COEE) would help the Central Government and various state governments as they implement e-governance initiatives to provide better governance. He said the COEE will work in close partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
