Crime Branch unearths fraudulent land deal
Chennai, Jun 20 (UNI) The Central Crime Branch today arrested six employees of city-based Sterling Resorts Pvt Ltd, in connection with the registration of a prime land by using forged documents.
Police said they registered a case, based on a complaint, against Managing Director Sivasankaran and the Registrar of South Chennai for their alleged involvement in the land scam.
The disputed land was bought by 18 persons, including Mr Sivasankaran who was given the Power of Attorney.
The fraudulent deal came to light when one Shanmugam of Erode, one of the 18 share holders, wanted to transfer the ownership of his share - estimated to be one and half acre - to his son. It was found that the entire land was registered as Sivasankaran's sole property, with the help of the Registrar, South Chennai, An investigation was underway, the police added.
