CPWD Executive Engineer arrested on bribery charge

New Delhi, Jun 20 (UNI) An Executive Engineer of the Central Public Works Department here was today arrested while accepting Rs 7,000 in bribe, CBI said.

The official, Sita Ram, was arrested from his office when he fell into a trap laid by the agency, following a complaint that he had sought a bribe to grant a work order worth Rs 3.72 lakh.

According to a CBI spokesman, about Rs 10 lakh in cash as well as documents relating to two housing plots in Rohini were seized during searches at his office and residence.
