Court awards 33 months imprisonment for raping minor

Mumbai, June 20 (UNI) A local court today found a 22-year-old man guilty of raping a minor girl in Bandra West here.

Additional sessions judge M S Keny held him guilty under sections 366, 363 and 376 of the IPC and convicted Dhiraj to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and nine months and pay a fine of Rs 500.

The mother of the victim had registered a complaint with the Bandra Police station on October 12, 2003 after the victim, who at the time of the incident was 13 years old, returned from the clutches of the accused.

The accused had forcibly taken the victim from her house on July 1, 2003 to Amravati he along with the victim stayed at his uncle's house and then kept her in a rented house till she escaped from there on October 12, 2003.

After reaching her house, she narrated the whole incident to her parents including intercourse and beating her up by the accused.

Later, her mother lodged the complaint with the police.
