Cong will take legal opinion on HC judgement on polls

Hyderabad, Jun 20 (UNI) APCC President Keshava Rao today said the Congress respected the High Court judgement quashing the election notification for panchayat polls scheduled for June 28 and July 2.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at his camp office, he said here, ''I accept the judgement. The court has the right to give its judgement on the petition. We will take legal opinion and take further action at the earliest.'' Stating the judgement was not a setback to the government for holding panchyat polls, he said the courts had no right to stop the election after the Election Commission had issued a notification.

The TDP did not want to participate in the election to avoid defeat, he said.
