Commission finalises Assembly, Parliamentary constituencies

Chandigarh, June 20 (UNI) The delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in Punjab has been finalised by Delimitation Commission.

The exercise was done on the basis of the 2001 census and after considering objections and suggestions received from the general public and political parties of Punjab during public hearings, a statement said today.

The Commission issued a notification in the Punjab government Extraordinary Gazette yesterday regarding the extent of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in the state.

The notification has also been published today in two vernacular newspapers of the region. The Punjab Elections department has hosted the notification on the website of the department (http://ceopunjab.nic.in) for the information of the general public and political parties of the state.

Copies of the notification are also available with the District Election Officers (Deputy Commissioners).
