CBI arrests former J and K ministers in sex racket case
New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir ministers Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Raman Mattoo were arrested this morning in connection with the Kashmir sex racket case, a CBI spokesperson confirmed here.
Mir, a sitting Congress legislator, was arrested from Jammu and Kashmir House in Chanakya Puri in south Delhi, the spokesperson said adding, Mattoo, former Jammu and Kashmir industries and commerce minister was arrested from his residence in Srinagar.
Mir, former Jammu and Kashmir minister for roads and buildings, will be produced before a court for a transit remand this afternoon, the spokesperson added.
Both the former ministers will be subjected to a Test Identification Parade (TIP) by a minor who had alleged the two had raped her, a report from Srinagar said.
Mir and Mattoo were ministers in the previous Mufti Mohammad Sayeed regime in the state.
The case, which had rocked Kashmir for several weeks, will again come up for hearing before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court today, the report added.
The CBI is likely to file charges in a local court here in the coming few days against the eleven accused, including Border Security Force (BSF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) K S Padhi, a Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Mohammad Ashraf Mir and former state Additional Advocate General Anil Sethi, who has been declared a proclaimed offender.
