CAIR Director Sitaram awarded 'Distinguished Scientist' Award
Bangalore, June 20 (UNI) Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Bangalore, Director N Sitaram has been conferred the 'Distinguished Scientist in DRDO' award in recognition of his stupendous contribution over the years.
Dr W Selvamurthy, Chief Controller Research and Development (Life Science and HR), New Delhi, and Mr Avinash Chander, Director, Advanced System Laboratory (ASL), Hyderabad, have also bagged the award, instituted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), for their contribution in their respective fields, according to an official release here today.
CAIR, a premier lab of the DRDO, was engaged in conducting basic research in the field of artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, applied research and development in these fields with a focus on defence requirements, including computer networking and communications.
CAIR, which won the DRDO's 'Silicon Trophy' last year, had developed a unique tactical command and control system called Artillery combat command and control system, induction of which into the services was expected to improve the accuracy of artillery fire.
