Barrackpore, Jun 20 (UNI) Taking a cue from former Aussie cricket captain Steve Waugh, who endorsed ''Udayan'' -- home of child lepers in the outrskirts of the city -- Brazil's star soccer player Leonardo has decided to construct a sports complex on the land adjacent to the organsation.

Father James Stevens, founder of Udayan, also disclosed today that the player, member of 1994 world Cup winning team, would be visiting the city once the ongoing World Cup is over.

Announcing Udayan's development plan, Rev Stevens said Leonardo had agreed to fund an indoor sports complex, the preliminary works of which had already started.

The star Brazilian soccer would be visiting the home shortly after the 2006 World Cup to lay the foundation of the project, Rev Steven said.

''Basketball, volleyball and badminton courts will be laid in the sports complex in the first phase,'' he said.

Ground for football and other games would be constructed in the next phase, he said, hoping funding would not be a problem for the project.

''God will bless us and help to implement the welfare projects for the mankind, '' Rev Stevens said.
