BJP MLA murder accused remanded in judicial custody
Ghazipur, UP, June 20 (UNI) In the BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai murder case, a court today remanded an accused -- sharp-shooter Sanjeev Maheshwari alias Jeeva -- in 14 days judicial custody.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Angad Prasad also fixed July 3 as the next date of hearing. Jeeva was present during that hearing.
The prosecution had yesterday claimed Jeeva had confessed to his involvement in the high-profile murder, saying he carried out the killing at the behest of don-turned-Independent MLA from Mau Mukhtar Ansari.
Ansari is currently lodged in Ghazipur district jail alongwith his brother and ruling Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari, who is co-accused in the case.
