Bhambri sisters, Rushmi advance; Megha upsets Isha Lakhani

New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) Top seed Ankita Bhambri, sister Sanaa and third seed Rushmi Chakravarthi moved to the second round while Megha Vakaria caused the biggest upset of the day stunning second seed Isha Lakhani in the first round of the 10,000 dollar ITF Women's Tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here today.

Megha surprised Isha by snatching the first set and though the second seed managed to draw parity and force a tie-breaker, Megha had the last lasugh as she carved out a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win.

Seasoned Rushmi toyed with compatriot Krushmi Chedda before beating her 6-1,6-0, while fifth seed Sanaa trounced Asha Nandakumar 6-4, 6-1.

Tara Iyer was leading 6-7, 7-6, 3-2 when her opponent Pinitrra Thongdach retired, while Poojashree Venkatesha spanked Archana Venkatraman 6-2, 6-3 in another first round match.
