BA offers students extra baggage allowance

New Delhi, June 20 (UNI) British Airways (BA) is offering students flying between July 1 and September 30 to carry an extra bag weighing up to 23 kg.

''The beginning of the academic year is the time we have the maximum number of students travelling with us,'' said airline's commercial manager for south Asia Amanda Amos.

''Our aim in launching this offer is to provide an opportunity to our young scholars to plan a trip that suits their budgets and allows them to carry all that they want in addition to their existing baggage allowance.'' BA currently operates 42 flights per week from London Heathrow to five cities in India including double daily services to Mumbai and Delhi from London, three times per week to Kolkata, five flights a week from Chennai and six flights a week from Bangalore.

It carries about 36 million passengers around the world. BA has a worldwide network of 157 routes in 77 countries and operates 372 flights per day to 41 destinations in the UK regions.

Its group fleet comprises of 290 aircraft including 57 Boeing 747s, 43 Boeing 777s, 21 Boeing 767s and 13 Boeing 757s.
