Arrest warrants against Shilpa, Rema Sen, Kushboo issued

Madurai, June 20 (UNI) A magistrate's court here has issued fresh arrest warrants against Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty and Kollywood actors Rema Sen and Kushboo in an obscenity case.

Judicial Magistrate II, Ilango, ordered issuance of fresh arrest warrants against the three actors and directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to produce them in the court.

The warrants were being issued through the petitioners counsel, Peter Ramesh Kumar, for speedy action.

The case pertained to the publication of 'obscene' photographs of Shilpa Shetty and Rema Sen in a Tamil eveninger.

The petitioner, Dakshinamurthy, an advocate from suburban Vandiyoor, contending that the photographs were obscene, sought to initiate appropriate legal action against the publisher, Murugan and the actors.

Actor Kushboo, whose remarks about the case amounted to contempt, was also named as an accused and included in the case.

While the publisher of the eveninger, Murugan, had appeared in court, the actors had pleaded for recall of the warrants and sought to dispense with their personal appearance. They had sent the petitions through registered post.

Dismissing their plea, the magistrate pointed out that it was not the practice to submit petitions through post.

The Magistrate posted the case for further hearing to November ten.
