Hyderabad, Jun 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government would appeal against the High Court's quashing of the notification for Panchayat polls tomorrow.

Addressing reporters here, he said the appeal would come up before the High Court division bench tomorrow morning.

The government had directed the Advocate General to take the issue seriously, he added.

He said the state government had not received the judgement in writing so far.

Pointing out that the courts should not interfere in the matters of elections after the notification has been issued by the Election Commission, as per the previous Supreme COurt judgements, the Chief minister said, ''as far as I am concerned, the Election Commission is reponsible for the deletion or addition of electoral rolls'. The government was not at all responsible in this regard.'' Stating that the state government had not interfered in the deletion of the electoral rolls, Dr Reddy said the petitioners who moved the court had the duty to verify their names before the publication of the electoral rolls by the State Election Commission.

To a query, he said the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was only concentrating on levelling allegations against the government rather than knowing the facts about the electoral rolls.

The TDP was celebrating by bursting crackers by hailing the court's judgement at its party office, because it could not celebrate after the election results came out.
