Air Deccan, SBI tie up for e-ticketing through internet banking
Bangalore, June 20 (UNI) In yet another attempt to reach out to a wide section of the population taking to flying, low cost carrier Air Deccan today tied up with the State Bank of India (SBI) for online ticket booking facility.
The Central Reservation System (CRS) of Air Deccan had been directly linked to the SBI online banking system to facilitate SBI account holders book air tickets through their online banking facility.
SBI had over 3,500 internet banking branches across the country and one million customers who availed banking services through the net.
SBI acting Chairman Bhattacharya told newspersons here that after the huge success of the Indian Railway e-ticketing facility, this service was now being extended to air travellers. The bank had already tied up with Indian.
Air Deccan Managing Director Capt G R Gopinath said the tie up was yet another effort of Air Deccan to make flying simple and easy.
Cornering a share of 17 per cent of air passengers in its 34 months of operation, Air Deccan currently booked all its tickets through internet and was the largest e-commerce entity in the country, grossing a turnover of one million dollars a day, he said.
SBI customers could log on to the Air Deccan site and complete the travel transaction with confirmation. The payment options were through direct debit to the SBI account. The transactions would be safe and digitally SSl encrypted for additional safety.
