Srinagar, June 20 (UNI) Concerned over large number of cases pending in different courts, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Justice Bashir Ahmad Khan said 12 additional courts were being set up in the state soon.

Addressing the members of bar at Pattan, Sopore and Baramulla, the Chief Justice announced that locations of each of these courts shall be decided on merits taking into consideration pendency of cases and like factors.

He impressed upon the Bar and Bench to coordinate and cooperate to provide speedy Justice to the litigant.

He asked the lawyers and judicial officers to come out of the procedural wrangles and put an end to unnecessary delays in the dispensation of Justice.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court having completed its 75 years is scheduled to celebrate its diamond jubliee on July 29, this year and this was an occasion for the legal fraternity to re-dedicate itself to the cause of Justice.

The Chief Justice reviewed the infrastructure of the subordinate courts of the district and gave directions for augmenting the facilities enabling the courts to function at the optimum level and providing justice without delay.

Moreover, the chief Justice announced Rs One lakh and Rs 75 thousand each for Bar Association of Baramulla and Sopore for the upgradation of library and other facilities.

He also instructed District Development Commissioner to construct sanitation unit and sheds for litigants in the District Court Complex.
