Zaheera Shaikh shifted to Nasik Jail
Mumbai, June 19 (UNI) Zaheera Sheikh, prime witness in the Best Bakery Case and who is accused of perjury, has been shifted to women's cell of Nasik Central Jail from Byculla civil prision here.
Zaheera's advocate Umesh Deshpande today said she was shifted to Nasik prison on June 14, after the prouncement of sentence by Additional Session Court Judge Abhay Thipsay on June 12 in a perjury case.
Mr Deshpande said an accused who has to undergo sentence for more than three months could not be kept at the Byculla jail, so she was shifted to Nashik jail.
Zaheera is currently undergoing a one year simple imprisonment sentence awarded to her by the Supreme Court with a fine of Rs 50,000 in default and will have to undergo further imprisonment for one year for filing false affidavit there.
After the completion of the Supreme Court's sentence, she will have to undergo three months Rigorous Imprisonment and pay fine of Rs 500 in default and will have to undergo further RI for 10 days, which was awarded to her by Mr Thipsay for giving false evidence here during re-trial of the case.
